The Great British Slate Off Returns for 2026

Do you have the skill, precision and craftsmanship to stand out in the roofing industry?

Back for 2026, the Great British Slate Off gives roofers the chance to showcase their natural slating expertise and compete alongside some of the best in the trade.

Launched by NFRC and hosted by SIG Roofing, the competition invites roofers from across the UK to submit a short video demonstrating their slate roofing skills. The natural slate used can be purchased from any supplier.

Great British Slate Off Prize

Finalists will receive three days of specialist ornamental slating training with NFRC, VIP access to InstallerSHOW, and the opportunity to demonstrate their craft on a national stage, as well as behind-the-scenes industry engagement opportunities and an SIG Roofing goodie bag.

Competition judges Matt Timby and Andy Rowlands will be looking for exceptional technical ability, craftsmanship, quality of finish, and overall presentation. Representing different areas of the roofing industry, Matt and Andy bring together technical knowledge, practical skills and years of hands-on experience.

As well as judging the competition, they will also deliver the specialist ornamental slating training, supporting finalists in developing and refining their skills ahead of the live event.

Finalists must be available to attend InstallerSHOW from 23-25 June 2026 to take part in the competition and all associated activities.
