Sika to Acquire Adhesive and Sealant Manufacturer

Sika has agreed to acquire Akkim, a global manufacturer of adhesives and sealants based in Turkey.

The acquisition is expected to strengthen Sika’s position in the global adhesives and sealants industry and unlock substantial growth opportunities in distribution and reach. The deal will also add to production capacity and efficiency.

Akkim is a growing, family-owned business with net sales of approximately CHF 220 million Swiss Francs (£210m) in 2025. It has a well-established distribution network focused on the high-growth markets in Eastern Europe, Central Asia, the Middle East, and North Africa. Its large product portfolio covers a wide range of adhesive and sealant applications and technologies for the construction sector. The offering is based on proprietary formulations developed by a strong R&D team.

Akkim operates two large-scale production facilities in Turkey and Romania, and is currently constructing an additional major site in Turkey to support future growth. The strategically located manufacturing sites provide significant potential to serve as production and export hubs for a broad geographic region.

The acquisition is aligned with Sika’s Strategy 2028, including to expand the adhesives and sealants business and their distribution.

The transaction is subject to certain regulatory approvals. Closing of the acquisition is expected in the third quarter of 2026.

Sika has subsidiaries in 102 countries, over 400 factories, 33,000 employees and generated CHF 11.20 billion (£10.6bn) in sales in 2025.
