Kicking us off in tenth place, this year saw the exciting launch of a brand-new roofing trade association, the Bitumen Flat Roofing Association, chaired by Shaun Lotay, Technical Director at Langley Waterproofing Systems.

In third place, independent merchant, IBMG, announced a ‘transformational’ financial restructuring which saw the Group’s senior lenders, Ares Management and Farallon Capital Europe, become its new shareholders.

In Memoriam: Ian McCarthy 15 September 1988 – 30 October 2025

At number two, the industry was rocked by the tragic death of Yorkshire Heritage Roofing MD and founder, Ian McCarthy. Kind-hearted friends and strangers alike rallied together to honour Ian’s memory in the wake of his loss, which saw over £4,000 donated via JustGiving to support his two young sons.

Breyer Group Reportedly Files for Administration

And finally, in this year’s number one spot – industry was left reeling after roofing giant Breyer Group appointed administrators in April, blaming ‘certain contracts’ and ‘a number of financial difficulties’ for its sudden collapse.
