With more than 40 years’ experience of the roofing industry, Mark has honed his skills through a variety of roles gaining technical knowledge of liquid-applied membranes, green roofing, blue roofing, reinforced bitumen membranes, and single ply. Throughout his career, Mark has also provided technical support to several roofing trade associations and in 2008, co-founded the Green Roof Organisation (GRO). New Technical Chair Speaking about his appointment, Mark Harris said: “I have a huge amount of respect for the LRWA and am very much looking forward to working with CEO Sarah Spink, the LRWA board and its technical committee members to continue to drive growth within the association and wider industry. “Building on the LRWA’s broad technical expertise, I’ll be helping to update existing guidance and develop new documentation. The first steps, chairing my first meetings and beginning to review the Hot Melt Code of Practice, are already underway. “I’ll also be seeking opportunities to help develop the next generation of technical leaders within the LRWA membership. “Like many of my peers, who also lead on technical committees and standards bodies, I want to leave the industry in a better place when I finally hang up my hat. Although this won’t be for a while yet, I know how long it can take to develop the skills and knowledge needed to earn the respect of your colleagues and competitors. The sooner we can get that ball rolling among our younger members and nurture technical talent, the better.” Sarah Spink, CEO of the LRWA, added: “Mark is very well respected throughout the roofing industry and brings extensive product and systems knowledge to our team. “His experience will be instrumental in helping us to strengthen the LRWA’s technical support while ensuring our sector continues to be well represented in the development of new standards and guidance.” >> Read more about the LRWA in the news Previous article Builders' Output Slowly Recovering in Latest State of Trade SurveyNext article Esh Construction Completes Council HQ Revamp Share article You may also like View all News Flat Roofing +4 5 March 2026 Financial Controller at TaperedPlus Returns Featured Solutions +5 26 February 2026 Precision Liquid Waterproofing Delivers Heritage Roof Refurbishment Flat Roofing +5 4 February 2026 Twenty Roofing Firms Appointed to £80m Scottish Roofing Framework Flat Roofing +4 3 February 2026 Flex-R Joins Builders Merchants Federation Sign Up to Roofing Today Stay up to date with all of the latest news from Roofing Today by signing up to our weekly Bulletins… Sign Up Today Get in Touch Check out the latest issue 123 March-April 2026 View Now Past Issues Get in Touch
