New Chairman at NARM

IAN Weakford has been appointed as the new Chairman at NARM, the National Association of Rooflight Manufacturers, following a unanimous vote at the Association’s quarterly general meeting.

Ian replaces outgoing NARM Chairman Scott Leeder, who occupied the post for a short period, but has now taken a role outside the rooflight industry.

Huge Experience

As Sales & Marketing Director at Hambleside Danelaw and long-serving chair of NARM’s Marketing Committee, Ian brings huge experience and continuity to the role.

Ian Weakford said: “The construction industry is evolving quickly to meet new challenges. This places great emphasis on trade associations like NARM, to ensure that changes are for the better. We have representation on many influential committees and working groups which help to shape future standards and legislation, so we too, need to evolve.

“NARM’s membership brings together a deep pool of knowledge and talent, from leading rooflight manufacturers serving all sectors. In my new role, I’ll be looking to further strengthen our position by drawing on that broad human resource to combine our well-documented experience with new levels of energy and a clear vision for the future.”

New Chairman

As a member organisation of the Construction Products Association (CPA) and Eurolux, the European trade association for rooflight manufacturers, NARM shares knowledge and resources across the wider construction industry.

Its members also play active roles in other trade associations, including NFRC (National Federation of Roofing Contractors) and MCRMA (Metal Cladding & Roofing Manufacturers Association). NARM’s collaboration with the ACR (Advisory Committee for Roofsafety) has played an important role in defining non-fragility of rooflights, making roofs a much safer place to work in recent years.

Further new appointments will take place at NARM over the coming weeks, following Ian’s appointment.
