New Chairman and Board Members at LRWA

THE LIQUID ROOFING AND Waterproofing Association (LRWA) has appointed Gary Hemmings as its new chairman.

Managing director at WestWood Liquid Technologies, Hemmings has been an LRWA board director since March 2018.

He will be supported by Mark Flello, managing director at Dove Technology, who has been appointed vice chairman.

Both were put forward for their positions by the LRWA board and voted-in by members at the LRWA AGM in March 2020.

As chair, Gary Hemmings will help guide the delivery of significant new projects and sector developments with the support of the LRWA board, its members and the CEO, Sarah Spink.

Gary said: “Our membership is growing fast with an increasing number of manufacturers and contractors seeking to benefit from the LRWA’s technical knowledge and industry insights.

“At a time when huge change is taking place across the entire construction sector, I’m looking forward to working with Sarah and the rest of the board to keep this momentum going and further strengthen the association. This includes helping to bring forward new projects and initiatives that will continue to raise the standards and awareness of the liquid roofing and waterproofing industry.”

Contractor representatives

The LRWA has also made two new appointments as it welcomes its first contractor representatives to the board.

Rafal Drabik, managing director of London Seamless Flat Roofing, and Chris Bott, managing director of Mars Construct, have been elected to represent both the southern and northern regions of the UK.

Rafal has worked in the liquids industry for nearly two decades and set up London Seamless Flat Roofing in 2005. Chris, a former building surveyor, has more than 25 years’ construction industry experience and has been at the helm of Leeds-based Mars Construct since 2016.

Sarah Spink, CEO of the LRWA, said: “Gary is a key player at the LRWA who has provided valuable support to the association during meetings and events. This experience combined with his extensive industry knowledge makes him an ideal chairman and a great asset to the LRWA as we look ahead to another eventful year.

“The appointment of Rafal and Chris reflects our rapidly growing contractor membership and will ensure the LRWA continues to provide the right level of support and guidance to contractors across the UK.”
