Launched in September 2025, the MCRI forms part of the Metal Cladding and Roofing Manufacturers Association (MCRMA), which represents companies involved in the manufacture, supply, inspection, and support of products and systems for industrial, commercial, and warehouse buildings. Carlton Jones, Director of the MCRI explains: “The MCRI has been created to respond to the change that is reshaping our sector, particularly in respect of individual competence. “As a new institute of excellence for individual members, rather than companies, we believe it will enable the skills, competence, specialisms and value of those working within the UK’s metal roofing and facades sector to be recognised more formally.” Applying for a PQP Card The PQP card is only available to members of CSCS-approved professional bodies and is valid for five years. To qualify, applicants must pass either the CITB Managers and Professionals Health, Safety and Environment Test or the alternative CIC Health and Safety Test, and provide proof of current membership at a level accepted by CSCS. Acceptable evidence includes a membership certificate, card, confirmation letter or email, payment receipt, or a dated screenshot. Membership must be renewed annually and failure to maintain it may result in card cancellation. Garry Mortimer, CSCS Cards Executive Director of Operations said: “It’s a pleasure to recognise MCRI as the latest CSCS-approved professional body and a positive step for their Members and Fellows, who will now be eligible for the PQP card.” “Professional Bodies have a long history of qualifying construction professionals and CSCS has been recognising professional body membership for CSCS cards since 2003. We require membership criteria to have been successfully mapped against the relevant National Occupational Standards, where they exist, or other appropriate national standard and that there are robust CPD requirements in place.” All CSCS card applications can be submitted via the My CSCS app or CSCS Online, with approved cards typically issued within five working days. Digital CSCS cards are available in the app as soon as an application is approved. >> Read more about CSCS in the news Previous article Master Roofers Launches Individual Learner Journey and ProspectusNext article The Advantages Of Specialist Insurance Over Standard Cover Share article You may also like View all News Cladding +3 29 January 2026 Kovara Projects Expands MCRMA Installer Representation Cladding +2 22 January 2026 FK Facades and FK Construction Collapse as FK Group Continues Cladding +3 8 January 2026 Tremco Construction Products to Acquire Kalzip GmbH Cladding +3 15 December 2025 First Building Envelope Professionals Approved as MCRI Members Sign Up to Roofing Today Stay up to date with all of the latest news from Roofing Today by signing up to our weekly Bulletins… Sign Up Today Get in Touch Check out the latest issue 123 March-April 2026 View Now Past Issues Get in Touch
