MCRMA Welcomes ArcelorMittal UK as New Member

A UK DIVISION of the global steelmaking business ArcelorMittal has become the latest new member of the MCRMA, the industry association representing the metal building envelope sector.

ArcelorMittal Construction UK (AMCUK) joins the association for the first time to support its growth plans for its metal roofing and cladding products and systems, three years after the company acquired Architectural Steel Limited (ASL Limited).

The company has recently expanded into the manufacture of cold rolled sheeting profiles for the built-up cladding market and mineral wool core sandwich panels, which are produced at its Manchester and Birmingham manufacturing plants respectively.

Supporting and Enhancing

Membership of the MCRMA aligns with ArcelorMittal Construction’s global vision to work in partnership with customers, the industry and communities more broadly to support and enhance the understanding, sustainability and performance of built environments.

Being part of a growing industry association will enable the company to support more stakeholders at all stages of the metal building envelope supply chain through expert insight, responsive customer service and design excellence in line with its corporate objectives.

Smarter Steels

Globally, ArcelorMittal is the world’s second largest manufacturer of steel products, producing 78 million tonnes of crude steel in 2023. It works across numerous industries, including automotive, mining, packaging and energy production, with a common goal to help ‘build a better world with smarter steels’ by applying innovative processes which are more efficient, use less energy, and emit significantly less carbon.

ArcelorMittal UK as New Member

Commenting on AMCUK’s decision to join the MCRMA, the company’s National Technical Manager, Mark Wiper, said: “Our business recognises the MCRMA as the pre-eminent trade body in the UK for metal building envelope products, so becoming a member and joining many like-minded businesses at the forefront of the industry was an important step for us.

Technical Expertise

Metal Building Envelope Supply Chain

Originally established to represent companies involved solely in the manufacture of metal cladding and roofing products, the MCRMA has evolved over three decades to cover all businesses involved in the metal building envelope supply chain.

In addition to system manufacturers, today the membership also includes component manufacturers, installers, building envelope design specialists, test houses, independent inspectors and a variety of consultants and industry support providers.
