Ex NMBS Chief Joins CPI as New Non-Executive Director

Chris Hayward has joined CPI Ltd, the not-for-profit, independently governed organisation set-up to guard and assess conformance with the Code for Construction Product Information (CCPI).

Chris will be acting as a non-executive director on the CPI board, following his recent retirement as chief executive of the independent merchants and distributors buying group NMBS.

Chris Hayward has significant standing across the construction sector with a strong network and knowledge spanning major aspects of the industry – including manufacturers, merchants, distributors and clients/contractors.

Previously, as CEO and MD of NMBS for over 20 years, Chris grew the organisation to be the largest UK buying group for independent building, plumbing, hardware and timber merchants, with a £2bn annual turnover, 1150 members and 4500 branches.

As well as experience as an non-executive director and chair, Chris has experience of development and delivery of digital solutions at scale.
