Entries are open for the Trussed Rafter Association’s Roofscape Design Awards 2027, celebrating the best in trussed rafter and metal web joist design.

Since its inception in 2023, the event has grown year-on-year, with last year’s competition drawing in a record number of entries. You can now enter any recent trussed rafter or metal web projects via the TRA website. You can also champion your colleagues’ hard work in the Individual categories.

Category Awards

There are six categories in total: three celebrating project excellence and three recognising individual achievement. The project awards recognise outstanding design in these categories:

  • Residential
  • Conversion and refurbishment
  • Commercial

Entries may be based on trussed rafters, metal web beams/joists or combinations of the two and should provide a compelling narrative that highlights technical achievement, design quality, or professional growth. You can read about examples of previous winners on the TRA website.

Individual Awards

The individual awards, on the other hand, are a chance to salute the people driving progress within the sector:

  • Innovation Champion of the Year recognises leadership in sustainability, technology, or operational improvement.
  • Safety Champion of the Year celebrates exceptional commitment to safe working practices.
  • Career Development Champion of the Year acknowledges dedication to learning, growth, and professional excellence.

This year, there are cash prizes of £250 for every award.

“The judges always enjoy seeing the range of creative and technically impressive projects our members deliver,” said Nick Boulton, Chief Executive of the TRA.

“If you’ve been involved in a great truss project, this is your chance to celebrate that success. I’d encourage all TRA members to take part and to encourage your colleagues to submit entries as well.”
