Matt Dawson - RoofCERT

THE ROOFING accreditation scheme, RoofCERT, has appointed Matt Dawson as its Commercial Manager.

The new role was created to help drive the programme to reach the target of accrediting 2,000 roofing operatives.

The appointment comes as RoofCERT’s Strategic Engagement Director, Jon Vanstone, who helped establish the accreditation, moved to become the Chair of the Interim Industry Competence Committee (IICC). The IICC is a new committee established by the HSE to provide strategic leadership and oversight of improving competence in the built environment.

Matt Dawson, a qualified mechanical engineer, joins RoofCERT, from the insurance industry, where he worked with clients in construction. Matt has also worked for several trade associations, including the Association for Consultancy and Engineering and the Recruitment and Employment Confederation, where he was responsible for a similar scheme for recruitment professionals.

Matt Dawson said: “I am delighted to be starting this position at such an exciting time for the RoofCERT scheme.

“Having worked previously in the insurance side of construction, I know the importance of upskilling and continuous development in ensuring quality.

“Client and government expectations on competency are only set to intensify over the coming years, but fortunately, the roofing sector is ahead of the game with RoofCERT.

“We have set ourselves some ambitious targets, however, I am confident that we can grow rapidly with the support of the industry behind us.”
