Read the latest magazine Industry News Pitched Roofing Timber Batten Supplier Celebrates CCPI Renewal and EPD Publication 8 September 2026 SR Timber is celebrating two great achievements in September. Just two years after becoming one of the first roofing batten suppliers to be assessed against the Code for Construction Product Information (CCPI), which promises clarity on product information, SR Timber has successfully renewed its assessment. It has also received third-party verification of its Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) for its SRT GOLD® BS 5534 graded roofing batten. EPD Publication An EPD is a third-party-verified, standardised document that provides transparent data on a product’s life-cycle environmental impact, including its carbon footprint. It provides customers and partners with clear, reliable data to make informed decisions aligned with their own environmental goals. An expanding list of businesses is publishing EPDs, committing to transparency about the environmental impact and performance of their products. EPDs are currently used to support Scope 3 emissions reporting, whole-life carbon assessments of buildings and infrastructure projects, and other voluntary building certifications, such as LEED and BREEAM, which now award points or credits to a whole building based on how many and what types of verified EPDs are used in its construction. So, there is a growing benefit for businesses to publish them. SRT GOLD® is a correctly graded roofing batten, fully compliant with all relevant codes of practice: BS 5534:2014+A2:2018 and BS 8417:2011+A1:2014 (preservation of wood). It is a WPA-approved product, Use Class 2, and a CCPI-assessed product 005300068/0628. Now available with a published EPD detailing its carbon footprint from raw material extraction to final disposal, allowing customers to make informed choices about embodied carbon and meet ‘green’ building certifications. Material Transparency “Over the past 20 years, we have worked to maintain consistent quality in our graded SRT GOLD® batten, which meets all grading requirements to ensure it is a compliant material for roofers to work with and to support the longevity of the roof. Controlling the entire supply chain from tree to roof helps us do this, and providing clarity on product information is a key part too, so our successful renewal of CCPI is an important statement,” said SR Timber’s Trading Director, Shaun Revill. “We wanted to provide an EPD for the product as well. Whilst it isn’t currently a legal requirement when selling within the UK market, it is likely to be implemented under the revised CPR. In the meantime, it demonstrates to customers our commitment to providing the market with further material transparency.” View the new SRT GOLD® EPD here.
