Will the Green Homes Grant Boost Work for Tradespeople?

THE GREEN HOMES GRANT went live on 30 September with vouchers available worth up to £10,000 to cover the cost of installing home energy efficiency improvements.

With 61.2% of UK homes currently rated below the recommended EPC rating of C, the launch of the scheme could give a welcome boost to repairs, maintenance and improvements (RMI) work for tradespeople.

Uswitch estimates over 11.5 million UK homes are in need of extra measures to improve their energy efficiency. And, while English homes spend on average £252 extra per year on their energy bills due to bad energy efficiency, there are big savings to be had from home improvements.

That means householders can save money by taking up the Green Homes Grant scheme to get work done on their homes.

Energy Efficiency Grant

The need for grants for energy efficiency work is clear. Only 30,969 homes in England have the top energy efficiency rating of A (0.17% of homes). London has the most homes with the recommended energy efficiency rating of C or better. However, Yorkshire & the Humber has the lowest with 66.4% of its 1,865,291 homes rated D – G.
