When a roof leak threatened to derail a multi-million-dollar renovation project at St. Luke’s Methodist Church, Houston, local roofing contractor TMS Roofing was called upon to secure the building and prevent further water ingress while work continued.

Recognising the importance of the church’s architecture and historic features, Trent Henry, co-owner of TMS Roofing, arranged for a temporary roof protection system from Stormseal to be installed over the building.

“The church’s historic organ is priceless, not to mention the investment being made throughout the building,” Trent commented. “We needed a solution that would protect the church and allow the renovation work to continue without the threat of water intrusion.”

Temporary Roof Protection

Following online installation training, the TMS Roofing team obtained the necessary equipment and materials and completed the installation within a week.

The temporary covering was in place ahead of the approaching storm season, helping to protect the building and its contents from weather damage while the renovation progressed.

“Having a reliable weather-protection system gave everyone peace of mind,” Trent said. “We were able to secure the building, protect the renovation investment and keep the project moving forward.”

Stormseal Managing Director Matthew Lennox added: “Churches play an important role in bringing communities together, and we’re proud to have been part of protecting such an important landmark.

“Projects like this demonstrate how Stormseal can help contractors quickly secure buildings and prevent costly weather-related damage while permanent roofing work is completed.”

The project highlights the importance of addressing water ingress quickly when roofing work and wider building renovations are under way, particularly where historic interiors, specialist fittings and valuable contents are at risk.
