The flat roofing design and insulation specialist began supporting the hospice this summer through fundraising and volunteering, with Office & Business Support Manager Kelly Petts among those taking on challenges to raise funds. Sponsored Parachute Jump Despite being petrified of flying, the 45-year-old completed a sponsored parachute jump which has raised £958 so far, while she also successfully nominated Teesside Hospice for a further £1,000 Community Grant from the BGF Foundation. Kelly impulsively agreed to the challenge during a visit to the hospice when TaperedPlus became a corporate partner. She said: “It’s the first time I’ve ever done a parachute jump, which wasn’t my best idea considering I’m petrified of flying. As the day got closer, I was definitely regretting volunteering myself! “I don’t remember much after sitting strapped to my instructor with my legs dangling out of the door. I didn’t even open my eyes until just before the parachute opened. “It was terrifying, but I’m glad I did it because it’s such an important cause. But would I do it again? Definitely not, and it definitely hasn’t cured my fear of flying!” £2,000 Boost Kelly completed the jump with Sky-High Skydiving from Shotton Airfield in County Durham and is hoping to break the £1,000 fundraising barrier. She also thanked colleague Chloe Herring, who went along to support her. Aman Chahal, CEO of Stockton-on-Tees based TaperedPlus, said: “Our partnership is about our team getting involved and doing what they can to support the incredibly important work of Teesside Hospice. Kelly certainly led by example, although we might have to suggest a different fundraiser for her next time!” Hassan Hameed, Corporate Partnerships Manager at Teesside Hospice, added: “We’re always so thankful for our fundraisers, but the fact that Kelly was afraid of flying makes us even more grateful for the effort she went through. “Raising just under £1,000 on her own, as well as securing a further grant for the Hospice, is an enormous achievement and reflects the values and support of not only Kelly, but also the wider TaperedPlus team.” >> Read more about TaperedPlus in the news Previous article Genius Roof Solutions Plans Growth With Equity InvestmentNext article Occupational Health Risk Management in Construction Share article You may also like View all News Charity News +1 16 October 2026 Lighthouse Charity Christmas E-cards Back by Popular Demand Charity News +1 6 October 2026 Band of Builders Launches Young Tradespeople Bursary Charity News +2 22 September 2026 Housebuilder Fuels Lighthouse Charity Outreach with Van Donation Check out the latest issue 126 September-October 2026 View Now Past Issues Get in Touch Sign Up to Roofing Today Stay up to date with all of the latest news from Roofing Today by signing up to our weekly Bulletins… Sign Up Today Get in Touch
