Read the latest magazine Apprenticeships Awards and Events Industry News SPV Support for Apprenticeships Recognised at House of Lords 8 September 2022 MIDLANDS roofing company, SPV Special Projects, attended the House of Lords on 7 September to celebrate the company’s apprenticeships provision. SPV Special Projects was recognised as one of the Top 50 SMEs committed to apprenticeships for the training they offer in partnership with Juniper Training at their dedicated training centre. The Top 50 SME Apprenticeship Employers is a new national league table that recognises England’s SME apprenticeship employers for their commitment to employing apprentices, their creating of new apprenticeships, the diversity of their new apprentices, and the progression of their apprentices onto further apprenticeships and employment. This year is the first year the Department of Education has celebrated SMEs. SPV Apprenticeships SPV first launched its in-house training facility in 2019. In partnership with Juniper Training, the Centre provides a 24-week Introduction to Construction course with specialist roofing and cladding work experience. From there, roofing students are able to progress to roofing and cladding specific apprenticeships. The company have worked over several years to develop both pre-apprentice and apprenticeship provision and the model has inspired the development of other company based training across England. SP Commercial Director, Kate Whatley Kate Whatley, Manager SPV Special Projects, said: “Our apprenticeships are at the heart of what we do at SPV and they add so much to our business. So much so that we developed a training pathway and provision to recruit and support current and future apprentices. It was fantastic to network with like-minded people sharing best practice and ideas.
