Eastern Region Roof Training Group (ERRTG) is an independent training provider based in Baylham outside Ipswich and has delivered roofing apprenticeships as the direct provider since 2020. There are currently 31 apprentices on the roofing programme with a planned, next cohort intake for apprentice roof slaters and tilers and waterproof membrane installers in October 2023. EERTG had the Ofsted visit in July and the inspectors judged apprentice behaviours and attitudes and personal development as ‘outstanding’ within the overall ‘good’ rating. CUPA PIZARRAS took two apprentices to their slate quarries in northern Spain last year (pictured here with tutor, Ben Barker, and Hannah Wall from CUPA). Another trip is planned for September 2023. Manufacturers are offering support with CPD and delivery, including Axter and Soprema. ERRTG says it would welcome any further manufacturers that would be willing to offer support for apprentices training for flat roofing. Managing Director, Clive Coote, said: “We are so pleased to be graded “good” by Ofsted. We could not have wished for a better grade, considering this was our first Ofsted full inspection. The team and I are over the moon! I would like to express my sincere gratitude to my tremendous team, who have transformed our apprenticeship delivery to such a high standard.” ERRTG has sister companies which deliver commercial and e-learning and a Pathways skills academy offering alternative provision to schools in the area to enable young people to have an opportunity to develop skills within construction and mechanics. The next cohort intake for Roof Slater and Tiler and Waterproof Membranes Installer roofing apprenticeship training is October 2023. Skillbuild 2023 regional heats took place at ERRTG this year. Four apprentices participated. >>Read more about roofing training in the news Previous article 'Get a Grip' on Environmental Regs to Unlock House Building, says LordsNext article EPD Insulation Group Build Board to Grow Business Share article You may also like View all News Apprenticeships +4 5 March 2026 BMI Widens Access to Apprentice of the Year Competition Apprenticeships +3 16 February 2026 Roofing Experts Meet Apprentices in Drive to Close Skills Gap Apprenticeships +3 13 February 2026 New Sussex College Roofing Apprenticeship Tackles Skills Shortage Apprenticeships +3 13 February 2026 Construction Apprenticeships See First Increase Since 2021 Sign Up to Roofing Today Stay up to date with all of the latest news from Roofing Today by signing up to our weekly Bulletins… Sign Up Today Get in Touch Check out the latest issue 123 March-April 2026 View Now Past Issues Get in Touch
