Roofbase and its associated business, Roof Giant, have joined the National Buying Group, the collective purchasing organisation for independent builders’ merchants.

Steve Lloyd, Managing Director at Leicester-based roofing specialist Roofbase, decided to join NBG after discussing the benefits with another roofing merchant and NBG Partner, Adrian Shelly, Managing Director of Henshaws Roofing and Building Supplies.

Roofbase operates separately to Roof Giant serving a different client base, but both businesses will draw on the opportunity to improve buying power and tap into a wider roofing product network through the NBG. Advantages which the company says will ultimately benefit customers through better product availability, pricing, and support.

Steve Lloyd said: “Roofbase is the trade counter business whereas Roof Giant is for e-commerce and I didn’t want them to be blended. The separation reflects the difference in customer behaviour between online and in-store.”

New NBG Partner

Enlisting both businesses with NBG, Steve Lloyd said he intends to participate in NBG meetings, learn from other partners and contribute where his experience can help improve things for other merchants or the group as a whole. Steve said: “I want to pass on as much knowledge as I soak up.”

Phil Bonar, Head of New Partner Development and Recruitment at NBG commented: “Many merchants join NBG after conversations with existing partners and that type of endorsement is powerful. We’re pleased Roofbase has joined NBG and we look forward to working with them as they contribute to the group and strengthen their own business.”
