NFRC Crowns 2026 Local Hero Award Winner

Sean Lynden of Blackpool Industrial Roofing has won the ‘Local Hero Award’ at the NFRC UK Roofing Awards 2026.

The category, sponsored by SIG Roofing, invites nominations from the roofing industry for individuals who have made an impact in their local communities.

Sean, who attended the event with his family, was unaware of his nomination. He was presented with his award on stage at the prestigious luncheon at the Intercontinental, O2 in London on Friday, 8 May. He also received holiday vouchers worth £2500 as his prize.

Sean’s nomination highlighted his outstanding commitment to fundraising and community support across Lancashire. For over a decade, he has dedicated himself to raising vital funds for Trinity Hospice and Brian House Children’s Hospice. What began as a modest fundraising effort during golf trips has since grown into an incredible journey, raising over £250,000 to date.

In 2025 alone, Sean led initiatives that raised c£70,000, including organising a large-scale charity golf day at Poulton Golf Club, which brought together 70 teams in a powerful display of community spirit. He also completed the demanding Tour de Mont Blanc, combining personal challenge with fundraising.

Local Hero 2026

Sean’s motivation is deeply personal, having seen first-hand the care hospice services provide. This passion continues to drive him. In 2024, he climbed Mount Kilimanjaro, and his next challenge is to walk 100 miles, visiting seven hospices whilst pushing a hospital bed, with the aim of raising a further £100,000.

His impact extends far beyond fundraising. Sean inspires others to get involved, raises awareness of hospice care, and brings communities together to support vital services that depend heavily on donations. Selfless, driven, and inspiring, Sean truly embodies what it means to be a Local Hero.
