The new site is MKM’s 136th branch and will create around 18 new jobs for local people, with more expected as the branch becomes established. The Branch Director is Wilmslow-based Ric Bauer, who has 30 years’ experience in the builders’ merchant industry, from yard to trade counter, to senior leadership roles. Ric said: “Congleton has a brilliant community spirit. We’re not here to be just another merchant. We’re here to become part of the community and to properly support local trade and homeowners.” New Congleton Branch The new MKM Congleton branch will offer a full range of building materials and is designed to be a true one-stop shop for both trade and retail customers. Customers will find leading brands such as Marshalls, Brett Martin, Velux, Ideal Standard and Milwaukee, alongside quality local suppliers wherever possible. The site also features an 18,000 sq ft covered warehouse and timber store. Ric added: “If our customers need it, we’ll stock it. Simple as that. We’ll be listening to local trades from day one and shaping our stock around what people actually use. That’s the benefit of being locally run. We’re flexible and we can respond quickly rather than following a one-size-fits-all approach.” Strong Local Activity With strong levels of new-build and renovation activity across the area, Ric expects timber, landscaping and kitchens to be among the most popular product categories from the outset. Founded in Hull in 1995, MKM operates a locally run business model that gives each branch autonomy. The company is planning more branches across the UK in 2026. >> Read more about MKM in the news Previous article Sika 2025 Sales Fall Amid Market Share GainsNext article RA Recommends Laminated Glass in Overhead Glazing as First Choice Share article You may also like View all News Industry News +2 20 March 2026 RA Issues Revised Safety Guidance on Rooflight Covers Awards and Events +3 20 March 2026 The Great British Slate Off Returns for 2026 Green Roofs +3 20 March 2026 Swansea Joins Global Network of Biophilic Cities Sign Up to Roofing Today Stay up to date with all of the latest news from Roofing Today by signing up to our weekly Bulletins… Sign Up Today Get in Touch Check out the latest issue 123 March-April 2026 View Now Past Issues Get in Touch
