Hodgson Sealants, the UK’s largest independent sealant manufacturer, has begun construction of a new £2 million warehouse at its East Yorkshire site, as part of a wider investment in UK manufacturing capacity.

The new facility will stand 16m high and provide just under 1,200m² of warehousing, with an additional 32m x 14m canopy, and is being built to the rear of the company’s existing site in Beverley.

It will bring together storage of raw materials, packaging and finished goods under one roof, with the canopy enabling loading and unloading under cover.

The family-run business says that consolidating storage onto a single site will improve stock accuracy and end the need to move goods between locations, improving efficiency for customers. The project will also free up the majority of the existing warehouse space at its Belprin Road site for additional manufacturing, supporting the company’s ongoing growth plans.

Construction is being carried out by Houlton and is on track for completion in January 2027 having started in the summer.

The new building will incorporate energy-efficient lighting and solar panels, with the aim of making the facility self-sufficient and removing its reliance on grid electricity.

Expansion

Danielle Houghton, Managing Director of Hodgson Sealants, said: “This investment reflects our confidence in the future of the business and our commitment to UK manufacturing.

“Bringing together all of our storage onto one site will make us more efficient as a business, and just as importantly, it clears the way for us to expand our manufacturing capacity.

“We’ve been growing for almost 60 years, and this is the next step in that journey.”
