Gogglebox Star Reveals He’ll Keep Working as a Roofer

PETE SANDIFORD this week let drop that his day job is in roofing and that he won’t be quitting his job as a roofer even though he’s a TV star on Channel 4’s Gogglebox.

Pete, who appears on the long-running, popular Googlebox show together with his younger sister Sophie, is renowned for his sharp wit and quick-fire humour. The sibling pair have been big favourites of the TV programme’s fans since they first appeared on the series in 2017.

However, at this week’s appearance of the pair at the Television and Radio Industries Club (Tric) Awards on Wednesday Pete said he still needs his day job to cover his bills.

Speaking to The Sun newspaper at the awards, Pete, 27, said: “We just saw Eamonn Holmes. I am just a builder from Blackpool, so it is a bit strange when celebrities know us. I was on a roof yesterday.”

Responding to a question on whether he’d be giving up his day job, he said: “I have got to pay my mortgage somehow.”

It is not known how much Gogglebox cast members are paid, although in 2016 it was reported that families received around £1,500 a month.

Pete Sandiford works for a construction company in Blackpool. The TV star has been careful to avoid disclosing many details about his off-screen life, although he has celebrated his marriage and becoming a dad last year on the show.

The Sandiford siblings began their journey to TV stardom when their family were scouted for a TV advert for Talk Talk. With parents, Julie and Paul, and their two other siblings Harry and Lucy, Pete and Sophie were filmed for two weeks with fly on the wall cameras set up in their home to find the perfect “ordinary, everyday moments”. In a look forward to their future on Gogglebox, the final 2015 advert features the family watching TV together.
