Following the company’s acquisition by A-Plant in 2015, GB Access has experienced a period of rapid growth, investing £7m in new technology and increasing its fleet from 240 hoists to 418. GB Access has also recently purchased a new Alimak 650 25/50 Twin Cage construction hoist. The machines, which boast a 2m wide and 5m long platform, were delivered to London’s new Marble Arch Place development in April to assist with the construction of a new landmark building and striking gateway to the West End. In June, the company will also be taking delivery of a new arctic unit, featuring a custom-built HIAB crane and step frame trailer designed to enable GB Access to carry loads up to 16,000kg – almost doubling the payload of the company’s existing HIAB rigid lorries. 30 Years for GB Access Director of GB Access, Nigel Bland, said: “We continually update our fleet to ensure that our customers hire reliable, safe, environmentally friendly equipment, that incorporates the latest technology. “Our latest investments will be the pride of the GB Access fleet and we hope that the new equipment will open up new specialist opportunities for us in this sector. Over the past 12 months we have already invested over £3m and our purchasing spree is set to continue throughout 2019 to ensure we remain the UK’s market leader.” Throughout 2019, GB Access will also be marking its 30-year anniversary with a variety of fundraising initiatives in aid of A-Plant corporate charity, The Princes Trust and Sue Ryder – a charity local to the company’s Peterborough head office. Founded in 1953, Sue Ryder supports people living with a terminal illness, a neurological condition or those who have lost a loved one. >> Read more about access in the news Previous article RIBA President Responds to Theresa May’s ResignationNext article New Construction Training Hub Announced at IoR Meeting Share article You may also like View all News Access +4 10 December 2025 Worker Suffers Life-Altering Back Injuries after MEWP Basket Fall Access +4 30 October 2025 MEWP Controller’s Safety Failures Caused Fall After Bus Collision Access +4 6 June 2025 £1.3m Fall Protection Contract Secured with NHS Access +2 16 May 2025 MEWP Rentals Firm Acquired Sign Up to Roofing Today Stay up to date with all of the latest news from Roofing Today by signing up to our weekly Bulletins… Sign Up Today Get in Touch Check out the latest issue 123 March-April 2026 View Now Past Issues Get in Touch
