Compliance Support and Standards Commitment Key to MCRI’s Growing Membership

Six months since its first members were approved, the value of the support available to ensure compliance can be effectively maintained, as well as to uphold the highest professional standards, are emerging as the key reasons behind the growth of the Metal Cladding & Roofing Institute (MCRI).

Launched in September 2025 by the Metal Cladding & Roofing Manufacturers Association (MCRMA), the MCRI is the only membership organisation for individuals working in the metal building envelope sector.

Unlike the MCRMA, which is an association of companies operating in the industry, the MCRI recognises the professionalism, experience and competence of the people behind the success of products, systems and projects and the personal contribution they make to the continuous development of the sector.

MCRI Member Advantages

One of the key advantages of being approved as an MCRI member or fellow is that it offers a route to obtaining a CSCS Professionally Qualified Person (PQP) card – the industry-wide card verifying that a professional possesses the competence and health and safety knowledge required to work on construction sites. This is available to Members and Fellows due to the fact that the MCRI is a CSCS-approved professional body, which grants a PQP card to members and fellows valid for five years (subject to approval).

Another of the most cited reasons for industry professionals applying for membership is support for continuous learning and development to keep ahead of the curve in relation to new standards, products, systems and project delivery processes. Members of the MCRI agree to undertake at least 24 hours of recognised CPD training throughout a 12-month period, which some members find beneficial in that it helps them stay focused on their professional development and integrate training into their regular workload.

In addition to training and development support, the MCRI also helps to keep highly skilled individuals from across the industry informed and up to date with the wider changes and developments affecting their role and the metal-based roofing and cladding sector more broadly.

Members are profiled on the MCRI website, and they benefit from access to a Members Area containing sector focused information and links to key industry documents and consultations. They also have access to the MCRMA’s CPD-approved training and a monthly e-newsletter, along with an Online Annual Members Meeting (Associate level upwards).
