Read the latest magazine Industry News BSI Gets Go Ahead to Regulate Products After Brexit 5 February 2019 THE NETHERLANDS government has designated the British Standards Institute (BSI) as a notified body for Construction Products Regulations, allowing it to continue certifying construction products which need to gain a CE mark. This will ensure that construction products, including roofing products which are currently certified by BSI, will still be able to gain the certification needed for a CE mark after Brexit. The designation will be key for enabling British manufacturers to access the European market in the event of disruption after Brexit and means UK manufactured products can be sold in the European Union and the wider European Economic Area. BSI Gets Go Ahead Howard Kerr, Chief Executive at BSI Howard Kerr, Chief Executive at BSI, said: “BSI already has an established presence in the Netherlands, providing product conformity assessment amongst a range of other services. To be designated as an EU notified body in the Netherlands for the Construction Products Regulations provides continuity of market access for our clients from within the UK and internationally. “Today’s news will not divert our focus from our role as a UK notified body, but will rather benefit both operations and wider industry.” BSI is also in the final stages of application to become a designated notified body to the Personal Protective Equipment Regulation, the Gas Appliance Regulation and the Pressure Equipment Directive. We expect confirmation from the appropriate Netherlands government departments soon. BSI’s strategy is to continue and grow two EU product conformity notified bodies in the two geographies. There is a straightforward process, which is primarily administrative, to migrate existing client CE certificates to the new BSI Netherlands notified body. >> Read more about construction products in the news Previous article BMI Sponsors New Young Roofer Category in UK Roofing Awards 2019Next article What Would a No-Deal Brexit Mean for UK Construction?
