INSULATION MANUFACTURER, Xtratherm has signed an acquisition agreement in principle to purchase Ballytherm’s operations in Ireland and the UK.

Part of the firm’s strategic growth plan, the purchase will bring additional manufacturing capacity to the business, including the UK’s newest PIR manufacturing facility in Herefordshire. Ballytherm currently manufactures PIR insulation products in Ballyconnell, Ireland. It plans to expand this to its new manufacturing facility in Ross-on-Wye.

The development enhances Unilin Insulation’s business in the UK and Ireland where, through Xtratherm, it offers a range of insulation technologies. Unilin is part of Mohawk Industries Incorporated, which is listed on the New York stock exchange.

Lieven Malfait, President of Unilin Insulation adds “I am delighted to welcome our new colleagues from Ballytherm to our group. We are fully committed to strengthening our position as a European leader in our markets, and this agreement is an important step forward.”

The deal will be notified to the CCPC, Competition and Consumer Protection Commission in Ireland, and so is subject to its approval. The transaction is expected to complete towards the end of 2021.
