United Living Gets Building a Safer Future Stage 1 Certificate

CONSTRUCTION and property services companies, United Living Group, has completed stage 1 of the Building a Safer Future (BSF) Champion assessment.

The company achieved a Certificate of Commitment and Progress – Building Safety Stage One.

It shows United Living has passed the first BSF assessment stage – Leadership and Culture. This evaluates the perceptions, opinions and experiences of an organisation’s staff in relation to building safety.

The assessment includes data from psychometric surveys plus findings from confidential discussions with selected survey respondents. These inform analysis of an independent BSF Assessor who identifies building safety strengths and areas for development, which guides the organisation in focusing their improvement efforts.

Building a Safer Future Stage 1 Certificate

Steve Elliott, Non-Executive Chair of Building a Safer Future, said: “United Living’s initiative in engaging in the BSF Champion assessment is crucial in assisting in the industry’s transition to safer buildings. I urge many more businesses to register for the Champion process and follow their wonderful example. I congratulate United Living on the award of their Stage 1 certificate, and wish them well for Stage 2.”

Having completed Stage 1, United Living are now moving on to Stage 2 of the assessment, Corroborating Elements. This stage explores the organisation’s implementation of building safety policies and processes.

Within a dynamic framework of the Building Safety Act and Fire Safety Act, plus the Hackitt Report and the Grenfell Inquiry Part II Report recommendations, United Living will draw on insights from the BSF Assessor about building safety.

Behaviours and Culture

Speaking about the BSF certification process, Sean Luchmun, Group Director of SHEQ at United Living, said: “As a Building Safer Future (BSF) Charter Founder and Registered Signatory, United Living Group are delighted to be awarded the BSF Leadership and Culture Certificate. This demonstrates our ongoing commitment to becoming a BSF Champion and further embedding positive leadership behaviours and culture in building safety”.
