SPV Wins Place on the Top 50 SME Apprenticeship Employers of 2022

SPV SPECIAL Projects has been named as a Top 50 SME Apprenticeship Employer of 2022 by the Department of Education, coming in at number 37.

The Top 50 SME Apprenticeship Employers 2022 leader board is designed to showcase the very best of England’s apprenticeship employers, with those listed recognised by the government department for providing some of the most successful apprenticeship programmes over the previous 12 months and boosting career opportunities for more people.

SPV launched its in-house training facility in 2019. In partnership with Juniper Training the Centre provides a 24-week Introduction to Construction course with specialist roofing and cladding work experience. From there, roofing students are able to progress to roofing and cladding specific apprenticeships.

Muhammad Farhan is one of the first cohort who attended SPV’s Training Centre, being taken on as an apprentice by SPV itself and has recently become the first roofer to successfully pass the new Level 2 Roofing Apprenticeship Standard end point assessment.

SPV’s Kate Whatley said, “We invest heavily in our apprentices and they are a huge part of our business. Apprentices bring fresh ideas, embrace technology and are the future of our business.

“Our in house training centre has assisted since 2019 in addressing the skills shortages in our industry and continues to grow year on year.

Kate adds, “It’s encouraging to see so many construction SME companies committed to employ apprentices and being recognised by the Department of Education.”

In further recognition of its successes, the company has been invited to visit the House of Lords on Wednesday 7 September, where the minister for skills and apprenticeships will be hosting all the employers featured in this year’s Top 50.
