Material Composition and Functional Options

SOPRATORCH membranes are manufactured using either SBS (styrene-butadiene-styrene) or APP (atactic polypropylene) modified bitumen. Both types are reinforced with polyester, with the choice of bitumen modifier and membrane thickness influencing the membrane’s flexibility, thermal response, and installation suitability:

  • SBS-modified membranes are formulated to remain pliable at lower temperatures and can be considered where movement due to seasonal temperature changes or structural dynamics is expected.
  • APP-modified membranes are designed to provide increased rigidity at higher temperatures and may be selected where greater exposure to heat or solar gain is expected.

Each SOPRATORCH membrane includes a thermofusible film on the underside for use with torch-on application methods. Upper surfaces are finished with slate mineral granules and are available in a range of colours to meet certain design or thermal performance considerations.
