In the most recent framework, running 2024 to 2026, Yorkshire Housing wished to continue their programme of installing solar panels on their housing stock to help achieve the EPC level 3 rating required for rented property by the deadline of 2030, and to reduce energy bills for their tenants, helping to ease the pressure of cost inflation. They also wanted a 15-year product warranty including for all roofing products and the contractor asked that the proposed specification be value engineered to ensure that material costs fit the client’s budget. SIG Roofing is the largest specialist roofing distributor in the UK. They therefore have access to a broad range of roofing products from many leading manufacturers allowing them to be both unbiased and flexible in the products offered. The roofing merchant proposed the supply of Sandtoft tiles and ridges, their own brand FIX-R dry verge, dry ridge and ventilation along with SR Timber graded roofing battens, PV solar panels and inverters, which reduced the cost of materials for Yorkshire Housing. They also wrapped up the pitch by offering their 15-year One Warranty scheme to cover all the specified products they were to supply, including solar PV. Solar for Yorkshire Housing The pitch was accepted and SIG Roofing has now supplied both specialist roofing contractors, WRPS and Liam Bacon, new roofing materials and in-roof solar PV panels for over 175 Yorkshire Housing properties. The properties range from single storey bungalows, two-storey houses and apartments in locations in Malton and surrounding area, Knaresborough, Ampleforth, Skipton, Carnforth and Bradford, which have been supplied by the SIG Roofing branch most local to site. One Warranty The SIG Roofing One Warranty scheme is unique in its simplicity. It covers all the supplied roofing products for 15 years, so coupled with the contractors ‘Competent Roofer’ accreditation covering installation, it gives Yorkshire Housing complete roof cover. It saves the contractor a huge administration job of going to each separate product manufacturer to receive warranty cover. Instead, all the installed product is registered on the SIG Roofing portal in one place. So, if there is a problem with the roof in future, and it is deemed to be an installation issue, it is the responsibility of the roofing contractor to rectify the problem, but if it is a problem with any of the materials, it is covered by the SIG Roofing One Warranty scheme, keeping everything simple. In the case of Yorkshire Housing the administration of the scheme is conducted by the team at SIG Roofing who do the registration for each site using the relevant order numbers. SIG Roofing deliver first fix underlay, the battens and the ventilations in bulk and then the tiles and ridges directly to the plot on site, so it is easier in this case for SIG Roofing to action the registration. Positive Impact Martin Brooker, Asset Investment Manager at Yorkshire Housing, said: “Working with SIG Roofing on this programme has been really straightforward, and our customers are already seeing the benefits. We secured a great‑value contract with SIG Roofing and our roofing contractors, and the 15-year One Warranty scheme has taken away a lot of the usual admin. This makes things much simpler and lets us focus our time on what matters most: giving our customers lower energy bills and warmer homes. This investment is already making a real difference, and it’s great to see that positive impact across our communities.” >> Read more about SIG Roofing in the news Previous article Millions Invested to Restore Castle for Future GenerationsNext article Kovara Projects Expands MCRMA Installer Representation Share article You may also like View all News Industry News +2 20 March 2026 RA Issues Revised Safety Guidance on Rooflight Covers Awards and Events +3 20 March 2026 The Great British Slate Off Returns for 2026 Green Roofs +3 20 March 2026 Swansea Joins Global Network of Biophilic Cities Check out the latest issue 123 March-April 2026 View Now Past Issues Get in Touch Sign Up to Roofing Today Stay up to date with all of the latest news from Roofing Today by signing up to our weekly Bulletins… Sign Up Today Get in Touch
