The company, which works exclusively with social housing providers, has appointed business advisory firm Quantuma to manage the administration process. Quantuma managing directors Jeremy Woodside and Frank Ofonagoro, both of the firm’s Manchester office, were appointed as Joint Administrators of the Warrington-based company on 4 April 2023. The company was incorporated in 2016 and has built more than 1,100 homes since then, as well as social value schemes. The business currently has 1700 residencies in development on 17 live projects on different sites, employing 118 members of staff. It turned over around £81m in its last financial year. In its last filed accounts to May 2022, the business reported a halving of pre-tax profit to £244,936 from the previous year. In the directors’ Strategic Report, it states: “Cash management remains fundamental to the business and ensuring robust financial health gives the directors confidence to make decisions which are appropriate for the development of the business for the medium to long term, without being pressured into short term targets”. Lane End Administration Lane End Developments got into trouble at the beginning of 2023, after reporting that a number of contracts had been lengthened as a result of the pandemic and materials shortages. Quantuma managing director and Joint Administrator Jeremey Woodside said: “This is obviously a very difficult and uncertain time for the company, its employees and suppliers, and its wider stakeholders. He added, “We’re currently working alongside potential funders and senior management to assess the options available to them to restructure Lane End Developments Construction and allow it to continue to operate and deliver the housing projects across our region.” Lane End Developments were in the middle of a number of live projects including a 205-unit development in Winsford with Jigsaw Homes and a 100 unit scheme for Clwyd Alyn at the Northern Gateway in Flintshire.
