Read the latest magazine Industry News Small Builders to Get 3.2% Pay Rise 6 August 2026 The Building and Allied Trades Joint Industrial Council (BATJIC) has reached a new agreement with Unite the Union on pay rates for the construction industry. The 2026 agreement will see wage rates increase by 3.2%, following ‘lengthy’ negotiations between the two parties. The agreement will apply from Monday 10 August 2026 until Wednesday 31 March 2027, providing small builders with a clear position on wage rates for the year ahead. Pay Rise Agreed Brian Berry, FMB CEO Brian Berry, Chief Executive of the Federation of Master Builders, commented: “Reaching a new BATJIC agreement has required careful discussion, and we are pleased that this has now been concluded, following lengthy negotiation. “Small building firms continue to operate in a challenging economic climate, so it is important that any increase in wage rates is fair to workers while remaining workable for employers. “BATJIC remains an important voluntary benchmark for many small builders when reviewing pay and employment terms.
