Sky High Public Liabilility Insurance for Roofing Subbies – Have Your Say|roofer insurance

THE COST OF public liability insurance for roofing subbies – indeed insurance of all types for roofing professionals – has skyrocketed in recent years.

Earlier this year the Construction Leadership Council (CLC) did a survey on the costs and availability of professional indemnity (PI) insurance in the construction industry.

It found that construction professionals are being priced out of obtaining adequate insurance with almost a fifth paying more than 5% of their annual revenue for insurance.

Getting insured to begin with is also a challenge, with fewer insurers able to offering cover to roofers and imposing more and more restrictive conditions on the policies available

Public Liability Insurance for Roofing

For roofing subcontractors needing to obtain Public Liability insurance cover to go on site, there are two main risk types that increase the costs significantly – hot works and work at height.

Now, the insurance industry is working with the specialist roofing community, Master Roofers UK to look at developing a solution which will make it easier to buy insurance, get the right advice, and provide peace of mind.

It will focus on being more cost effective, appropriate for the level of risk and encourage safety by rewarding training and risk management.
