SHADOW SECURITY MINISTER, James Cleverly MP has marked the formal opening of an Alumasc Group facility in Halstead, Essex with a visit to the site today, 4 April 2025.

The building products business has transferred its Wade brand production and Gatic access covers manufacturing and assembly to the new facility.

The move follows the investment of over £3 million in building work and new machinery. It will improve Alumasc Group‘s manufacturing capability and efficiency, as well as simplifying product installation and enhancing Gatic’s environmental credentials.

It will also continue to support Gatic’s UK sales and international growth. To date, Gatic products have been supplied to projects in 114 countries, with the top four being: Hong Kong, Qatar, Singapore, UAE and Spain.

The Halstead site will become the manufacturing hub for Alumasc’s Gatic and Wade brands. Gatic specialises in engineered access covers and surface water drainage products which are used to capture, control and return run-off safely into the natural water cycle.

Wade manufactures a range of standard and bespoke drainage products including, floor gullies and gratings, linear drains and roof outlets.

Concentrating drainage manufacturing at the Halstead site will allow for further investments to improve capacity and efficiency and accelerate new product development.

James Cleverly MP said: “The relocation of UK manufacturing and assembly for the Gatic range to Alumasc’s Halstead site is a major milestone. I am delighted to see Halstead emerging as a key hub for Alumasc’s market-leading brands, supported by state-of-the-art facilities. This investment will drive growth, create jobs, and foster innovation, strengthening both the local economy and the wider manufacturing sector.”

Paul Hooper, Chief Executive of The Alumasc Group added: “This exciting move of Gatic covers manufacturing to Halstead represents a significant milestone in our journey towards greater innovation, growth, and enhanced product sustainability. The new location not only provides state-of-the-art facilities and enhanced machinery but also enables us to optimise our operations and expand our capabilities. I want to thank everyone involved with this project who helped make this move a reality”.
