Saint-Gobain to Acquire N Ireland Facade Mortars Manufacturer

SAINT-GOBAIN will acquire Kilwaughter, a manufacturer of facade mortars in the UK and Ireland. It operates brands such as K Rend and K Systems.

The binding acquisition agreement will strengthen Saint-Gobain’s offering in the UK and Ireland in light and sustainable construction, the company says.

Kilwaughter was established in 1939 starting with a lime quarry. It continues to operate one manufacturing facility near Larne in Northern Ireland and employs about 200 people. It has a strong focus on technical expertise and system specification. The business generated revenues of around £50 million in the year to April 2024.

Kilwaughter will be consolidated into the Saint-Gobain Northern Europe Region. Its acquisition is in line with Saint-Gobain’s strategic plan, ‘Grow & Impact’ which aims to strengthen the Group’s leadership and accelerate its growth by adding to its range of solutions for light and sustainable construction.

The acquisition transaction is expected to complete in the first half 2025.
