Sterlingbuild, which offer rooflights and roof windows for pitched and flat roofs, undertook the project with e-commerce partner objectsource. The future-proofing digital upgrade addresses common issues faced by UK builders’ merchants and roofing suppliers. These include legacy system instability and complex catalogue management, while enabling greater operational autonomy. The migration follows Sterlingbuild’s acquisition by JJ Roofing Supplies in 2023. It concludes the upgrade from its legacy bespoke .NET platform, which had become unstable and difficult to manage since its launch in 2014. E-commerce Transformation The main part of the project involved transferring Sterlingbuild’s 40,000-SKU product catalogue and its complex data relationships onto JJ Roofing Supplies’ existing Adobe Commerce Cloud. This had to be executed without impacting the live JJ Roofing Supplies systems. Crucial integrations with existing payment gateways, marketing platforms and their ERP system were also established, facilitating accurate and efficient data flow for stock, pricing and orders. Objectsource implemented the data transformation and deployment strategy, establishing the new Sterlingbuild site as a separate, high-performance entity within the shared Adobe Commerce Cloud infrastructure. The migration has delivered significant cost efficiencies through shared resources and offers better scalability for future growth across the group. David Mayo, E-commerce Manager at Sterlingbuild, said: “We’ve moved from a legacy, developer-dependent platform to a future-ready online business, enabling us to ‘dream the possible.’ What could have been a painful nightmare was made seamless.” >> Read more of the latest roofing merchant news Previous article Housebuilders to Pay £100m to Head Off Price Sharing InvestigationNext article From Building Site to Spotlight: Screwfix Top Tradesperson 2025 Entries Open Share article You may also like View all News Industry News +2 20 March 2026 RA Issues Revised Safety Guidance on Rooflight Covers Awards and Events +3 20 March 2026 The Great British Slate Off Returns for 2026 Green Roofs +3 20 March 2026 Swansea Joins Global Network of Biophilic Cities Featured Solutions +3 19 March 2026 Flush Fitting Rooflights by Clement Sign Up to Roofing Today Stay up to date with all of the latest news from Roofing Today by signing up to our weekly Bulletins… Sign Up Today Get in Touch Check out the latest issue 123 March-April 2026 View Now Past Issues Get in Touch
