Rooflight Association Quick Guide 06

The Rooflight Association has updated its Quick Guide 06 to help industry stakeholders navigate key compliance checkpoints on rooflight projects.

This follows increased pressure to demonstrate regulatory compliance and ensure solutions meet modern performance demands.

The document highlights key requirements for Fire Safety, Thermal Performance, Daylighting, Non-Fragility and Security and signposts associated guidance for further reading. New for 2026 – the guide now includes Requirements under the Construction Products Regulations which lists the applicable harmonised standards for rooflight products.

Quick Guide 06 Update

Fire Safety guidance has been updated to reflect the relevant changes to the Building Regulations for rooflights. The Requirements for Thermal Performance now reference the methods of the BRE 443 document, and industry-accepted standards ACR[M]001 and CWCT TN67 have been added to the Rooflights and Non-Fragility section.

Details from the association’s The Benefits of Rooflights for the Daylighting of Buildings white paper have also been added to the Requirements for Daylighting.

The Rooflight Association says these updates align with current regulations and reduce ambiguity, supporting improved decision-making and helping to reduce design risk and approval delays.

Strengthening Supply Chain Compliance

Commenting on the update, Paul Smith, Technical Chair for The Rooflight Association, said: “As the voice of the UK’s rooflight industry, we have a responsibility to provide clear, practical guidance that reflects the latest regulatory landscape.

“With the addition of Construction Products Regulation requirements alongside established fire, thermal and safety standards, this updated Quick Guide provides a brief overview of the critical considerations surrounding rooflights and regulatory compliance, some of which are commonly overlooked during the specification and procurement of rooflights.

“Its main purpose, however, is to signpost formal and detailed guidance for each subject, to promote good practice and help supply chain partners make the right decision when it comes to rooflights, from specification through to installation.”
