Read the latest magazine Industry News Skills & Training Roofing Masterclasses Open To All 9 September 2024 ROOFING MASTERCLASSES, offering free training to roofing contractors and those supervising roofing projects, are now open to all. Up until now, the Roofing Masterclasses have been exclusively delivered on home building sites, requiring a minimum group size. However, some SMEs and subcontractors may lack on-site space for training or struggle to meet the minimum group sizes. So, a new series of training sessions are being arranged by the House Builders Federation. The training sessions will be delivered at NHBC by a NHBC inspector. Roofing Masterclasses The 90-minute free courses are open to all and suitable for individual bookings. The Roofing Masterclasses are taking place at: Cambridge, Wednesday 23 October, 1pm to 2.30pm Tamworth, Wednesday 6 November, 1pm to 2.30pm Newcastle, Wednesday 13 November, 1pm to 2.30pm Hull, Wednesday 20 November, 1pm to 2.30pm The sessions have been designed in collaboration with the National Federation of Roofing Contractors (NFRC) to enhance the skills of roofing tradespeople working on home building sites in England, Wales, and Scotland. Roofing Defects Roofing is the build stage with the highest number of defects in new homes. It is hoped the training sessions will help roofers get it right first time. The free Roofing Masterclasses will cover common issues and best practice on housebuilding sites about: underlay and battens and roofing components mortar fire stopping condensation control/ventilation weathering and flashings fixing of slates and tiles wet and dry verges and valleys dry/ventilated ridges.
