The position paper sets out the roofing industry’s considered response to RC62, advocating for a more nuanced and risk-based interpretation, particularly in relation to flat roofing systems. It calls for design decisions to be grounded in whole-system performance and real-world test data, rather than rigid material classifications. RC62 Fire Safety Guidance for Solar Flat Roofs The publication follows extensive engagement by NFRC and partners with the RISCAuthority, which has now agreed to revise the RC62 guidance. A formal consultation on the updated version is currently open, although the revised guidance is not expected to be published for some time. Commenting on the publication, Gary Walpole, NFRC’s Technical, Safety, Health and Environment Officer, said, “NFRC is proud to support the development of this position paper, ensuring that flat roofs are appropriately considered within solar PV fire safety guidance. As solar becomes exponentially more widespread, we must ensure that guidance remains up to date and accessible.” Download the RC62 Roofing Industry Position Paper >> Read more from the NFRC Previous article Construction Starts on Tata Steel Electric Arc FurnaceNext article How to Improve Your ROAS Without Increasing Ad Spend Share article You may also like View all News Flat Roofing +3 26 August 2026 Flex-R Appoints National Key Account Manager Featured Solutions +2 20 August 2026 A High-Performance Mitigation Layer Cover Board Flat Roofing +2 20 August 2026 Mapei Expands UK Manufacturing Operations with New Burnley Facility Flat Roofing +3 14 August 2026 LRWA Publishes Updated Hot Melt Code of Practice Reflecting BS 6229:2025 Sign Up to Roofing Today Stay up to date with all of the latest news from Roofing Today by signing up to our weekly Bulletins… Sign Up Today Get in Touch Check out the latest issue 125 July-August 2026 View Now Past Issues Get in Touch
