Resigned to the fact business was closed on Monday, Matthew Ford, MD of The Purple Roofing Company brought an unexpected boost to business by offering help to key workers stranded in the Bradford area. Roofing Firm Helps NHS Workers The team put out a message on social media offering their assistance to pick up and drop off NHS workers in the company’s 4×4 truck and received an overwhelming response. “I had seen it in the past where staff who are working 12-hour shifts are stranded at work with nobody about to get in to offer relief,” said Matthew. “Alongside the current crisis of hospitals overcrowded with patients, it was obvious to me to use the capabilities of the 4×4 while the business was shut.” This impromptu lift service “made the prospect of no labour for a full workforce just after the Christmas closure less of a sucker punch,” he added. Following another night of wintery conditions, on Tuesday Matthew and the Purple Roofing team headed out into the snow again. Using the company’s 4×4 and its other seven vans, the team set about helping the elderly and the vulnerable, picking up medical supplies and prescriptions, doing shopping runs, and providing lifts to hospital and doctor appointments. Explaining what inspired this act of goodwill, Matthew said, “We work primarily within the social housing sector and know the difficulties that the elderly and the vulnerable would face as side streets and pathways couldn’t be cleared and gritted.” Grateful members of the community later took to social media to thank the team for the kind deed, commenting ‘Thank you so much Matt, you were a star this morning’ and ‘Very grateful for my rescues yesterday, thank you’. Matthew commented, “I felt lucky to be able to offer something at this time and utilise our resources when the going was tough for both us and the communities we operate in.” Founded in 2021, The Purple Roofing Company is based in Bradford, West Yorkshire. It offers services in pitched and flat roofing, repairs, uPVC and wooden rooflines. >> Read more of the latest roofing contractor news Previous article Construction Starts Edge Higher Starting 2025 on Positive NoteNext article Profits Hold at SIG for 2024 as UK Roofing Sales Increase Share article You may also like View all News Industry News +2 20 March 2026 RA Issues Revised Safety Guidance on Rooflight Covers Awards and Events +3 20 March 2026 The Great British Slate Off Returns for 2026 Green Roofs +3 20 March 2026 Swansea Joins Global Network of Biophilic Cities Featured Solutions +3 19 March 2026 Flush Fitting Rooflights by Clement Sign Up to Roofing Today Stay up to date with all of the latest news from Roofing Today by signing up to our weekly Bulletins… Sign Up Today Get in Touch Check out the latest issue 123 March-April 2026 View Now Past Issues Get in Touch
