The company, which employs 25 people and works nationally, prides itself on its excellent health and safety record over the past decade and more. It has won the NFRC gold health & safety award accolade for each of the past six years. Specialising in roofing, maintenance and surveys, mainly on commercial and industrial units including those with asbestos sheet roofs, Retain Ltd has seen unprecedented demand for its services particularly in the past two years, yet has maintained its focus on health and safety successfully during that time. Award-Winning Health & Safety Simon Andrews, Retain Project Co-ordinator attributes the firm’s award-winning health & safety record to a commitment that is driven both from the top down and bottom up. Simon Andrews explains, “Roofing is dangerous work and safety should be the number one priority on all sites. At Retain everyone is involved and engaged, you have to get everyone on board. The best place to start with a commitment to health and safety is with those who are on the tools. “Building relationships is critical and that is admittedly easier with a smaller team. We have weekly meetings where everyone is encouraged to speak up about any issues or concerns and it allows me to keep abreast of people’s thoughts. You have to build trust and that means there can be no blame game and no hiding of problems so that they can be dealt with.” Now the challenge is for the business to continue maintaining its high health & safety standards as it expands and plans for bigger and more complex projects. Jamie Gibbs, Retain Founding Director said, “We’re proud of our continuing health and safety ethos at Retain. It’s satisfying to see this recognised for the sixth year in a row with the NFRC Gold Health & Safety in Roofing Award. “There’s nothing more important than the safety of our team and their consistently high health and safety standards also provide our customers with the assurance that they are receiving a professional and safe service.” >>Read more contractor news Previous article BMI Acquisition of ChovA for Boost in Spanish Flat RoofingNext article SPV Roofer Hailed a Hero for His Bravery and Quick Thinking Share article You may also like View all News Featured Companies +3 26 February 2026 Glidevale Protect Strengthens Product Management Team with New Appointment Featured Companies +3 26 January 2026 Guardian Building Systems Launches New AI Training Programme Apprenticeships +4 15 January 2026 Build Your Roofing Workforce – Apprenticeships with Exeter College Featured Companies +4 20 November 2025 Protektor Wemico Marks UK Roofing Debut with West Temple Sheen Project Film Sign Up to Roofing Today Stay up to date with all of the latest news from Roofing Today by signing up to our weekly Bulletins… Sign Up Today Get in Touch Check out the latest issue 123 March-April 2026 View Now Past Issues Get in Touch
