Read the latest magazine Industry News Pitched Roofing Roof Tiles Polden Picked for Claish Farm Affordable Homes 15 June 2022 LOVELL PARTNERSHIPS recently specified Russell Roof Tiles (RRT) for a much-needed affordable housing project in one of Scotland’s most affluent areas. The local people of Callander, (near Stirling in Central Scotland) are finding it harder to live in the town due to the skyrocketing house prices. In the last 10 years prices have increased by 15 per cent. The development of Claish Farm headed by Rural Stirling Housing Association and Lovell, has delivered 50 new affordable houses. Lovell are housing experts and providers of innovative residential construction and regeneration developments. They built the first-ever affordable partnership homes back in 1971. Pitched roof tile manufacturer, Russell Roof Tiles was founded in Halleaths, Lochmaben in 1964 and now employs a team of 60 in Scotland, as well as two further sites in Burton on Trent. Claish Farm The new development at Claish Farm contains a mixture of bungalows and 2, 3 and 4 bedroomed houses, of which all have Polden tiles from RRT’s Natural Range to ensure they blended seamlessly with surrounding homes. The roof tile manufacturer produces concrete tiles that replicate the appearance of natural looking roof tiles with the benefits of offering greater strength whilst its modern manufacturing methods deliver a technically consistent and quality product for the developer. Greener Choice The quality, reliability and availability of the product along with being manufactured using 15 per cent less raw materials than a standard flat interlocking tile, means that the Polden tiles are an environmentally “greener” choice as they were delivered to site on fewer pallets and therefore reduced transport and packaging. Alan Young, Regional Sales Director at Russell Roof Tiles said: “We’re delighted to have supported Lovell and pleased to have been able to provide a consistent, reliable product for this development.” Russell Roof Tiles also worked with Lovell on a MOD project back in 2021 to deliver 917 homes for the Ministry of Defence on Salisbury Plain in Wiltshire as part of the £250m development programme. Lovell regional managing director, Kevin McColgan, commented: “We were delighted to have chosen to use Russell Roof Tiles on our Claish Farm development near Stirling. The quality of their product added significantly to the impact of the overall build. As a result, the Claish Farm development has been an exemplar for other local authorities and housing associations, who have visited to see the fantastic work that has been done. We look forward to using Russell Roof Tiles again in the future.” >> Read more about Russel Roof Tiles in the news Previous article Amber Heat Warning Issued in UK Central and Southern AreasNext article Submitting a Successful Loss and Expense Claim – Five Top Tips Share article You may also like View all News Industry News +2 20 March 2026 RA Issues Revised Safety Guidance on Rooflight Covers Awards and Events +3 20 March 2026 The Great British Slate Off Returns for 2026 Green Roofs +3 20 March 2026 Swansea Joins Global Network of Biophilic Cities Featured Solutions +3 19 March 2026 Flush Fitting Rooflights by Clement Sign Up to Roofing Today Stay up to date with all of the latest news from Roofing Today by signing up to our weekly Bulletins… Sign Up Today Get in Touch Check out the latest issue 123 March-April 2026 View Now Past Issues Get in Touch
