Read the latest magazine Industry News Skills & Training NWRTG Members Meeting to Focus on Building Safety Act 19 December 2024 THE NORTH West Independent Roof Training Group (NWRTG) is reminding its roofing contractor members why they should care about the Building Safety Act 2022 ahead of its next members’ meeting in January. Why should you care about the Building Safety Act 2022? • Fines, sentences, and reputational damage – Failure to comply means you risk breaking the law, potentially resulting in imprisonment, financial penalties, and serious damage to your brand’s reputation • Greater compliance across the supply chain – Managing risk has never been more important, and those that cannot illustrate they have the appropriate capabilities, knowledge, experience, and behaviours will struggle • Promote positive safety culture across the industry – Together, the construction industry can nurture a safer environment throughout a building’s life cycle. What is the NWRTG doing about it? We’re making sure that our roofing contractor members are fully up to speed with the Building Safety Act and its subsequent transitional arrangements, deadlines and rules at our next members’ meeting on 15 January 2025. Gavin Hoccom, partner at Browne Jacobson, will be speaking at the meeting, concentrating on the legal aspects and leading Q&A’s on the subject. Gavin most recently spoke at the MCRMA Technical Conference in September. And there’s more – Sarah Collier, partner at Bermans Liverpool and Manchester, will be updating attendees on recent and forthcoming changes in employment law, with Marie O’Donnell from Professional Futures also sharing information on CITB funded management training.
