Simon has 30 years of experience and deep category knowledge in the merchanting sector. He has a track record in operational alignment, streamlining processes, cost control and driving supplier value. Simon is well-known for his practical, collaborative approach and supporting strategic change. Reflecting on his new role, Simon commented: “I’ve always been passionate about this industry – especially the independent sector – as it’s built on trust, honesty and friendship, values that have shaped my whole career. Business is about relationships, and people are at the heart of it. These same ethics and strong foundations are very much at the core of Samac, and I’m very pleased to be part of a dynamic team where I can directly contribute to commercial growth, operational improvement and long-term business success.” New Commercial Manager Simon spent three decades with an independent merchant in East Anglia, helping it to grow. Over that time he maximised operational performance, developed trusted supplier and customer relationships and supported the company’s continued expansion. In recent years, Simon has also continued to contribute to the wider industry, working with the National Merchant Buying Society (NMBS) for over a decade, as a specialist on various category committees. More recently he has led a project focused on strengthening the supplier portfolio and protecting category value in the construction and industrial sectors.
