Mother and Three Offspring Stranded on a Roof

A FIRE CREW have reported an emergency call-out to rescue four hapless victims who were stranded on a roof.

Penrith Fire Station received the call to go to the rescue of three lambs and their mother who were stuck on the two-storey roof.

Penrith Fire Station said: “This animal rescue was a first for us. En route, we weren’t quite sure what we’d find when we arrived.

“On arrival we found one sheep and three lambs stuck on a roof.

“Fire crews used ladders and reaching poles, and along with a local farmer who came to assist, we safety got the sheep down and returned them to the field they’d come from.”

It was the third callout for the Penrith crew on Monday 9 June. They also attended a call to a suspected building fire, which turned out to be a false alarm ‘with good intent’.

The Cumbria Fire and Rescue team were also on standby to provide cover in the Carlisle area while the city’s crews were attending another job.
