Marley Revenue Up as Marshalls Returns to Growth

MARLEY delivered sustained revenue growth in parent company Marshalls’ trading update for the four months to 30 April 2025.

The Group’s total roofing revenue increased by 15% to £65 million (Jan-April 2024: £56 million), driven by the continued strong performance of Viridian Solar, which saw sales increase in response to changes in building regulations.

Marley Roofing’s timber battens and clay tiles also saw continued growth, with the latter benefitting from the launch of a new product range.

Marshalls Returns to Growth

Overall, Marshalls’ revenue totalled for £207 million (Jan-April 2024: £199 million) – a year-on-year increase of 4%.

Beyond its roofing division performance, revenue from its landscaping section contracted by 3% year-on-year to £86 million (Jan-April 2024: £89 million). The Group commented this is a “significant improvement” over the 11% reduction reported in the second half of 2024 and “reflects the impact of the comprehensive performance improvement plan that was initiated in June 2024”.

In its building products segment, revenue grew by 4% to £56 million (Jan-April 2024: £54 million). This was attributed to a strong performance in its Water Management and Mortars business. There was also growth in facing bricks, although overall revenue was impacted by softer demand for other products. Aggregates were also affected by reduced demand and reported lower revenues year-on-year.

Matt Pullen, Chief Executive of Marshalls plc, said: “We have made an encouraging start to 2025 with a return to Group revenue growth in the first four months of the year and improving trends in all our reporting segments.

“We remain focused on executing our performance improvement plan in Landscaping alongside deploying our Transform & Grow’ strategy at pace and are well positioned to respond swiftly to improving activity levels when our key end markets recover.”
