Longworth’s Strategic Board Restructuring to Support Continued Growth and Success

LONGWORTH GROUP is restructuring its board of directors, effective at the end of 2024.

The strategic move is in direct response to the building envelope contractor’s ongoing success and continued growth, the company reports. The changes also apply to Longworth Group subsidiaries: Longworth Building Services and Longworth Hard Metals.

The changes are part of a planned evolution designed to strengthen leadership capabilities and further support the company’s long-term growth objectives. The reorganisation reflects Longworth’s commitment to sustained development, operational excellence, and customer satisfaction as it continues to evolve and solidify its position within the industry.

Key Leadership Appointments and Changes Effective January 2025

  • Karl Smith will be appointed Group Managing Director, assuming responsibility for the day-to-day performance of all departments and businesses within the Longworth Group. Karl’s extensive experience will be pivotal in driving operational efficiency across the entire business.
  • Paul Smith will take on the newly established joint role of Chairman and CEO, where he will focus on providing strategic oversight for the group. This includes nurturing key client relationships, exploring new opportunities, and offering high-level guidance to ensure the long-term success of the business.
  • Sarah Burke will be appointed Group SHEQ Director, overseeing the People Department, including HR, Training & Development, Health, Safety, and Quality. Sarah’s leadership will ensure that the group maintains its commitment to a safe and productive working environment for all staff.
  • Steven Hayes will be appointed Construction Director at Longworth Building Services (LBS), where he will oversee the delivery of all construction projects. His leadership will ensure that LBS continues to exceed customer expectations and deliver high-quality results across every project.
  • Lee Smith will take on the role of Group Operations Director, responsible for overseeing all operational aspects across the group. Lee will focus on optimizing project planning and execution to ensure maximum efficiency and customer satisfaction at all stages of the project lifecycle.
  • Steven Jones will continue in his role as Pre-Construction Director for Longworth Group, further supporting the group’s expanding portfolio.
  • Stephen Barnett will continue as Design & Procurement Director, ensuring the ongoing excellence in design and procurement practices across the business.
  • Andrew Desmonde will remain the Managing Director of LHM, with continued support from the board to further the success and expansion of this important division.

Board Restructuring
