Read the latest magazine Gutters Industry News Merchants Roofline London Roofing Merchant Launches Specialist Building Plastics Division 28 November 2023 LONDON-BASED roofing merchant Alltype Roofing Supplies has launched a specialist building plastics division, diversifying beyond roofing for the first time. Building Plastics On Demand will specialise in facias, guttering, roofing, plumbing, drainage and outdoor living products from specialist brands such as Polypipe and Brett Martin. This will be in addition to the company’s established range of roofing solutions. Alltype’s product category diversification is part of a growth strategy pursued by the business since joining National Buying Group in 2019. Technology is a major part of the company’s strategy with live stock information, click and collect services, online account management with bespoke trade pricing, live quoting and delivery tracking all part of the service provided. Customers can engage with Alltype on all web-enabled devices, making Alltype a fully digital merchant. Specialist Building Plastics Division Building Plastics On Demand will be based at a new 10,000ft2 facility in Gravesend, in what is intended to be the first of multiple Building Plastics On Demand branches. All 13 existing Alltype Roofing Supplies branches will offer products from the Building Plastics On Demand range. The division will be led by Ian Ironmonger and Alan Knuckey. Ian has 34 years of industry experience, having previously been UK Sales Director at FloPlast. Alan has been part of Alltype for over 20 years, providing experience in the merchant sector. Vince Bick, Managing Director at Alltype Roofing Supplies, said: “The launch of Building Plastics On Demand is an exciting milestone for Alltype. Offering a raft of plastic-based building products, we’re not only able to expand into verticals closely connected to roofing, but to offer our customers completely new categories too.” About the launch, Ian Ironmonger commented: “Opportunities to join a business with plans as ambitious as Alltype’s don’t come around very often, so I’m thrilled to be able to play my part in such a major milestone for the business.
