Read the latest magazine Industry News LHC Webinar on Social Value in Public Sector Procurement 3 March 2022 PUBLIC SECTOR professionals are being invited to take part in a webinar on social value, explaining why community and collaboration should be at the forefront of public sector procurement tenders. LHC’s webinar: ‘Engage the Future: Collaboration & Community’ will take place on 31 March, 11:30am – 1:30pm. It will explain why equality, diversity and inclusion should be more than a tick box exercise if organisations want to deliver true social value. Using their experiences on the ADS 1 framework, which was redesigned to bring in a more diverse supplier base, LHC’s London and South East team will explain how the public sector can provide better outcomes to both clients and communities by broadening their engagement during procurement. The webinar will feature a panel discussion on engaging hard to reach community voices, with speakers including Richard Davidson, Director at Willmott Dixon, Polly Waterhouse of We Rise, Brixton – a youth charity providing work experience – and Charlotte Higgins of Construction Youth Trust. The webinar will include an exclusive premier of a short film produced by the young people We Rise supports. Social Value Shona Snow, London & South East Regional Strategy Manager said: “We wanted to host an event that would allow us to explore collaboration in relation to social value, diversity, and community engagement. Our hope is that this provides inspiration and new ideas from a variety of voices, alongside some examples of practical solutions that clients can take.” Constructing the Gold Standard The announcement of the new event follows the success of LHC’s Future of Frameworks: Constructing the Gold Standard webinar earlier in the month, which took a deep dive into the latest procurement regulations to affect the public sector. It offered a timely look at how and why the industry must meet the government’s ambitions. This included an exploration of both the Construction Playbook and Constructing the Gold Standard, with a keynote from Professor David Mosey at King’s College London Centre of Construction Law and Dispute Resolution and Alison Nicholl, Head of Constructing Excellence. Ethan James, London & South Easr Acting Regional Manager added: “After the success of our first event, we wanted to continue the discussions in this area and help drive better practices within procurement. It is only by coming together and sharing our learnings and experiences that we can build momentum for positive change in the industry.” ‘Engage the Future: Collaboration & Community’ will take place on 31 March, 11:30am – 1:30pm.
