The former Leeds, Reading, Bournemouth and Ireland left-back met with colleagues at the branch and participated in some Soccer AM style challenges with customers, including hitting a football into a cement mixer. He also posed for pictures in a HGV and took some orders for customers too. “I have very fond memories of my time at Elland Road, so when Travis Perkins asked me to visit their newly opened branch I jumped at the chance to visit. I even practiced some freekicks into a cement mixer,” said Ian Harte. “They have a cracking set-up and I’ve no doubt that the new branch will become an integral part of the local community, providing all the advice, as well as building materials and equipment builders and contractors could need.” New Travis Perkins The opening of the Leeds branch has created 21 new jobs for the local community. The new store is two acres in size and boasts Travis Perkins Hire facilities that enable customers to hire all the tools, plant and specialist equipment they may need at any one time – all in one place. As part of Travis Perkins’ commitment to minimise carbon emissions this site will include electric forklift trucks and charging points to minimise operating emissions. These innovations will help to deliver on its ambition of decarbonising and generate net-zero carbon by 2035. The Leeds branch will also have over 25,000 products in stock or available to order including an extensive timber, bricks and blocks range and a large landscaping, drainage and lintels range. All products will be able to be purchased online, in app, in store or over the phone.
